Exercise A Dreaded Word???

By: Ben Needles

OK, lets face it, Im hearing a lot of talk about exercise and the question really seems to be whether to move or not to move?

Youre faced with this question on a daily basis. Many times the answer it to wait until tomorrow or to tell yourself youll wait until tomorrow to begin. Getting motivated to exercise sometimes feels like a chore and we tend to make many excuses. Perhaps you should ask a few additional questions.

Do you want to succeed? Do you want to be healthy? Do you want to see the numbers on the scale decline? Are you committed to doing what it takes?

If you answer yes to these questions, then try thinking of exercise in a new and positive light.

Ex = Exciting
E = Energizing you for the day
R = Revitalizing your body, mind and spirit
C = Caring for yourself and your health
I = Invigorating
S = Stimulating and Stress Relieving
E = Excellent calorie burning furnace!

Exercising can be fun and no longer has to be the ho-hum treadmill or repetitive motions in the gym. With the advent of youtube there are many videos available to spark your interest in a variety of areas. Subjects range from kick boxing, pilates, stretching, hula dancing, ballet and strength training are at our fingertips to explore.

The invention of i-pods and wii electronic devices has opened a new frontier of new activities just begging for exploration. The possibilities are endless!

Try these simple changes and begin to move! Each time you implement one of these, you also need to give yourself Kuddos!!! and a huge pat on the back for making the behavior changes that will lead to your success!!!

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Pick the parking space further away from the door.

Take a 15 or 30 minute walk and explore your neighborhood

Do sit-ups, jumping jacks or touch your toes!

Have fun with exercise! Laugh as you strain to do this and know you will get better at it!

Jump rope and be a kid again!

Have you tried to hoola hoop lately?

Skip down the sidewalk or play hopscotch.

Do a 10-minute work-out video or teach yourself to belly dance, and dont forget to smile!

In general, just start moving!! The small changes you implement on a daily basis will add up to make momentous changes in your health! Your fitness will improve, your self-esteem will soar and you simply wont believe the way you view yourself and interact with others will sky rocket! This is but one of the keys to your success! Live into it!!!
